Nicole’s Rainy Night

Chapter One

The Message

Rain fell steadily against the windows, the quiet rhythm filling the room like a soft lullaby.

Nicole Adams stepped out of the bathroom, a gentle cloud of steam following her into the dimly lit bedroom. Droplets of water clung to her skin, catching the faint light as they traced slow paths along her body. Her long dark hair rested against her slender waist, damp and glossy in the shadows.

There was a natural elegance about Nicole. Even in silence, her presence carried a quiet confidence that did not need attention.

She walked toward her mirror stand and sat down gracefully, beginning her nightly skincare routine. With each careful motion, her reflection grew more radiant. Her skin appeared smooth and luminous, glowing softly under the warm light.

When she finished, Nicole slipped into her red lingerie. The bold color rested beautifully against her glowing skin. She lay back on the soft white blanket, letting its warmth wrap around her while the rain outside continued its steady rhythm.

Sleep slowly began to pull at her.

Then her phone lit up beside her.

A notification.

Nicole ignored it at first, turning slightly as she prepared to drift into sleep. Moments later, another alert appeared, brighter this time, cutting through the quiet darkness of the room.

Curiosity stirred.

She reached for the phone and glanced at the screen.

Among the usual notifications was a name she had not seen in months.

Michael.

Nicole frowned slightly in surprise.

Michael was someone she had met during a vacation months ago on a dating site. At the time, boredom and too much free time had pushed her to try the app after her friend Amber insisted it would be fun.

She had spoken with a few people.

Most conversations faded quickly.

But Michael had been different.

Their chats had lasted longer than expected. His words were thoughtful, warm, and easy to talk to. Yet once Nicole returned home, work quickly took over her life again. Without hesitation, she deleted the app and moved on.

Or so she believed.

And now, somehow, his message had appeared on her phone.

Nicole stared at the screen, her fingers tightening slightly around the device as curiosity slowly pushed against her caution.

After a moment, she opened the message.

It wasn’t long.

Just a simple greeting.

But seeing his name again stirred something unexpected inside her.

Nicole exhaled softly and began typing a reply.

A small decision.

One that would quietly pull her into something she never expected.
